The Brook Hospital KMI is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team:
A Registered Nurse is responsible for implementation of the nursing process in all aspects of patient care for all patient populations including geropsych, chemically dependent adults, adult psych, adolescents and children. Assures a comprehensive approach to patient care by applying appropriate theories to psychiatric nursing practice for all patients.

The Essential functions for the Registered Nurs include the following :
Demonstrates understanding of physical, emotional, cultural, religious and psychosocial needs of patients across the life span
Identifies, implements and documents patient/family teaching
Assist in providing a safe, therapeutic environment
Demonstrates knowledge of Nursing Department philosophy, and assumes responsibility for maintaining Standards of Nursing Practice and Standards of Care for all patients
Works without direct supervision, but seeks supervision from immediate supervisor for complex issues that arise
Oversees completion of daily Assignment Sheet at the beginning of each shift and revises as needed
Serves as primary channel of communication between shifts, for patient care unit, and between departments during designated scheduled shift
Prioritizes nursing care interventions according to individual patient and overall unit milieu needs
Responds with therapeutic interventions to disruptive behavior disorders
Professionally collaborates with all staff members to facilitate coordinated contribution to patient care; maintains continuity of patient care
Participates and attends treatment planning
Serves as a role model for patients to observe and learn more socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors
Participates in the development of patient’s problem solving abilities
Intervenes in crisis situations to promote positive growth and development and seeks to reduce dysfunctional patterns of behavior
Facilitates/Co-Facilitates groups and provides feedback to patients, regarding their behavior
Demonstrates understanding of chemical dependency and CD Program
Identifies verbal and non-verbal cues for potential aggressive behavior and applies de-escalation techniques to situation
Follows all guidelines when performing seclusion of patients
Follows all guidelines when performing restraint of patients
Knows and follows all procedures related to seclusion/restraint
Intervenes in medical emergencies including proper notification of administration, physicians, primary therapist, and family
